SHREVEPORT, LA - Abe, Abraham or Abie Werth, 88, passed away on February 23, 2016 peacefully at home. He is survived by his sweetheart of over 40 years and caregiver in his illness, Nancy Carr. His sister Adele Ryemon, his niece Rhonda Ryemon Cohen and her husband Dr. Jack, and his nephew Stephen Ryemon.
Abe was born in Shreveport to Sarah Kottle Werth and Isadore Werth. His mother remarried when Abe was about 14 years old to a very fine man named Harry Wilson. They had a son named Isaac Wilson. Abe was preceded in death by his mother Sarah, his stepfather Harry and his brother Isaac.
Abe was a long time businessman in Shreveport, and a member of Agudath Achim Synagogue Shreveport. He was most proud of his faith as a Jew, and his service to his country in the United States Marine Corps. His last words are "Semper Fi!"
The family extends a special thanks to Willis-Knighton Hospice for all their help during this difficult time. A special thanks to his nurse Lucile Grove for her calming and compassionate care to Abe, as well as his family.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016, at Agudath Achim Cemetery, corner of Yale and Walnut, Shreveport, LA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Abe Werth to your favorite charity, or to Agudath Achim Synagogue, Shreveport, LA.
