SHREVEPORT, LA - Celebration of Life services for Mr. A.J. Bennett, 93, will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, December 6, 2014, in the sanctuary of Kingston Road Baptist Church, Shreveport, LA with Dr. Bill Crosby and Father Bill McBride officiating. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Centuries Memorial Cemetery, Shreveport, LA under the direction of Rose-Neath. The family would like to welcome guests for visitation Friday, December 5, 2014, from the hours of 6-8 PM at Rose-Neath Southside. Visitation will resume at Kingston Road Baptist Church, Saturday, December 6, 2014, from 11:30 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM. Mr. A.J. was born August 6, 1921, in Simpson, LA, to the late John Allen and Hattie Temple Bennett and was called home December 4, 2014, in Shreveport, LA. Mr. A.J. was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Dorothy Norris Bennett, four siblings; Lizzie Bennett Roshong, Alpha Bennett Richey, A.C. Bennett and T.C. Bennett. He was a member of Kingston Road Baptist Church. Mr. A.J. owned a plumbing and AC contracting business here in Shreveport, Bennett's Inc. He was a kind, funny and gallant gentleman. Mr. A.J. will be remembered as being Bigger than Life. Left to cherish A.J.'s memories will be his sister; Nelda Burns of West Orange, TX, his children; Judy Bennett Blake and husband, Harold, Preston W. "Butch" Bennett, Donna Bennett Martin and husband Jack and Ellen Bennett Hoffman and husband Barry, ten grandchildren; Dana Comstock Benzick and husband Jeffrey, Stephen Cooper and wife Donna, Karen Muscutt and husband Scott, Keith Bennett, Eddie Harper and wife Rene', Sean Harper and wife Ginny, Heather Harper, Jackie Sue Newland Foster and husband Michael, Jeff Boutwell and Julie and Stephen Boutwell and wife Erica, sixteen great-grandchildren; Julianna Comstock, Kaleb Comstock, A.J. Bennett Cooper, Reilly Harper, Wesley Harper, Natalie Harper, Sarah Grace Harper, Ryan Newland, Casey Newland, Chasen Foster, Jacob Brown, Jared Brown, Kason Muscutt, Bishop Boutwell, Bennett Boutwell and Brynner Boutwell, along with many extended family members and many wonderful friends. Memorials may be made in honor of Mr. A.J. Bennett to Kingston Road Baptist Church, Shreveport, LA. The family would like to express their warmest gratitude to Dr. Marion Cash and the caregivers from Preferred Care At Home for the care and compassion provided.
