Alan Montgomery Warren, Jr., age 57, passed away at his home in Benton, Louisiana, surrounded by his family on Monday, April 9, 2018, after a year-long battle with cancer.
Alan was born May 3, 1960, in New Orleans to Alan and Nan Warren. He graduated from Stavanger American School in Stavanger, Norway, went on to receive his bachelor's degree in petroleum land management from the University of Texas, and earned an MBA from Centenary College in Shreveport.
Alan and Sindy, his wife of 29 years, lived in Benton, Louisiana, where Alan worked as a landman and eventually opened his own land business where he was able to mentor and train others.
Alan was an active member of Cypress Baptist Church and an avid golfer at Palmetto Country Club until its closure. He spent time hunting and fishing, playing with his dogs, and enjoying his family. He was known as an encourager and an example to many. He loved people, believed in people, and served people well. He expected the best out of life.
Alan is survived by his wife, Sindy; parents, Alan and Nan Warren and daughter, Lauren Askew, and husband, Adam, all of Benton. He is also survived by sisters, Debi Alley and husband Phil of Smithville, TX; Sandi Pickett and husband Marshall of Cypress, TX; Susie Cone and husband Chris of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Lily Peer, Liam Askew, and Lucy Askew; mother-in-law, Ann Oshita, of Benton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Cypress Baptist Church in Benton at 3:00 p.m. and will be officiated by Rev. John Fream. Interment will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
The family would like to thank Dr. Amishi Shah of MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Diana Lim, and Mike Craig's Sunday school class for their care and support during this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Alan's name to MD Anderson Cancer Center.
