COUSHATTA, LA - A funeral service celebrating the life of Albert "Gene" Eugene Phillips, Sr., age 68, will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, on May 16, 2018 at Rose-Neath Chapel in Coushatta, LA. Officiating will be Bro. Carl E. Phillips of the Salvation Army. Interment will follow at St. Maurice Cemetery in St. Maurice, LA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM Tuesday, May 15, until service time at the funeral home.
Gene was born on February 28, 1950 in New Orleans, LA to Henry Albert Phillips and Carrie Louise Kirk Phillips and passed away May 11, 2018 in Shreveport, LA. Gene was a cotton farmer for many years and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jerry Lee Phillips and Kenneth Wayne Phillips, his sister Irma Cordella, and his son Jason Eugene Phillips. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years Linda Phillips, their son Albert Phillips, Jr. and wife Jessica Vannort; his brothers Johnny Henry Phillips and wife Barbara, Carl Edward Phillips and wife Ethel, Floyd Anthony Phillips and wife Melissa, Michael Lynn Phillips and wife Renee, and Clifton Brent Phillips and wife Effie; his sisters Mary Wilson and husband Tommy, Carrie Johnson, and Patricia Johnson; grandchildren Shera Byers and Heather, 3 great-grandchildren, and his special canine companion Fefe.
Honoring Gene as pallbearers will be Mike Waters, Clinton Joiner, James Phillips, Brandon Hannah, Josh Phillips, and Clifton Brent Phillips.
