Alfred Irion Lafargue, Jr., 96, a native of Marksville and longtime resident of Houma and Baton Rouge, died Sunday, December 24, 2023 at his current residence in Bossier City, LA.
He grew up in Alexandria, Louisiana and graduated from Bolton High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1947. He attended Louisiana State University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He graduated from LSU with a degree in petroleum engineering in 1950 and spent his career in the oil and gas industry until his retirement. He was a football fan especially loyal to LSU and the Saints and an avid history buff.
He is preceded in death by his parents Alfred Irion Lafargue, Sr. and Daisy Darby Lafargue, his brother Walter Darby Lafargue and his first wife Jane Amundson Lafargue.
He is survived by his wife Sybil Lewandowski, son Norman Lafargue and wife Stacey of Shreveport, LA, son John Lafargue of New Orleans, LA, daughter Nancy Lafargue and husband Peter Scowcroft of Charleston, SC, granddaughters Katherine McCrady (Joseph) and Allison Cherry (Brian) of Little Rock, AR and four great grandchildren.
