Algie Ray Bolling

HAYNESVILLE, LA: Funeral services were held for Algie Ray Bolling, 79, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, LA on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. R.B. Moore, officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. Ray Bolling was born and reared in the Homer Oilfield at the end of the great depression in 1938. Ray would have said that country folks just hadn't gotten the word that it was over yet. A poor house monetarily but an abundantly wealthy home full of family and live, Ray never wanted for the warmth of good of country cooking or the love of family and lifelong friends. Homer High School is where Ray built most of the relationships that would sustain him the rest of his life. Faithful, enduring friendships, certainly, but the one that mattered most was his bride to be, and love of his life, Eylene David. After her passing two years previous, Ray's only wish was to be at her side yet again. A graduate of Louisiana Tech University, member of the Homer Jaycees, service in the National Guardsman, 20 year retiree of the Homer Fire Department and 50 plus year member of the First United Methodist Church all attest to Ray as a servant of this community. He took great pride in everything in which he was ever involved. "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right," Poncho would say. Most of his adult life he worked at and eventually owned David Appliance and Furniture, his father-in-law's business on the Homer square. Although Ray loved his wife and two sons unconditionally, nothing would ever compare to his undying love and dedication to his two biological granddaughters, Haliee and Shelby. Thoughts of those two girls, his adopted granddaughter, Katy and the memories of his dear wife would be his greatest comfort in the last two years of his life. He is survived by his two sons, David Bolling of Sarepta and Pat Bolling of Shreveport; three granddaughters, Haliee Bolling of Shreveport, Katy Franklin of Bossier and Shelby Bolling Bass and husband Brady of Sarepta; one great-granddaughter, Addison Bass of Sarepta; one sister-in-law, Jo-Ann Bolling of Homer; and several loved nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Thomas Ruple, Ryan Harmon, Glenn Kyle, Gill Dowies, Ronnie McKenzie and Dennis Butcher. Honorary pallbearer were Wayne Perry, Rex Young, Whit Perry, Britt Bolling, Sonny Collins, Joe Copeland and David Tooke. In lieu of flowers honoring Ray, his family suggests First United Methodist Church of Homer or Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
