Alice (Fert) Nell Anderson Young was born March 5, 1935 in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana to Bernace and Louella Dykes Anderson and went home to Glory on February 19, 2023.
“Granny” is survived by her husband, Beryl Allen Young who was the love of her life for 69 years. She is also survived by her three children, Patti Stowell and husband Mike, Cheryl Connella and husband Mark, Richard Young and wife Sara, sister Jo Ann Tester, 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and a host of loving relatives.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sisters Eloise Anderson and Elaine “T” Bierden, brothers Ray, Burrette and Bobby Anderson and his wife Millie.
Her life was shaped by her love of family and having them gathered together. Her cooking abilities were legendary and were used frequently for the benefit of all. She could be depended on to comfort, care, counsel, and provide wisdom to all that she cared for. Her grandchildren have often stated that her legacy will exist forever and all her friends and family agree.
Her church family was deeply important to her and she invested in it well.
Granny was a precious lovely lady, and was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She was ready to share the love of Christ with anyone at any time. She was a “servant” to all. She was the defender of everybody. Through the tremendous love of her Lord & Savior, and through her actions for him unto others, she was a great witness of His love.
Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Thursday, February 23 with a celebration of “Granny’s” life on Friday, February 24 at 11am. All held at Rose-Neath Southside, Shreveport, Louisiana. Interment at Forest Park West in Shreveport following the service.
