Funeral services for Alice Jean Toms will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Rose-Neath Bossier Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Billy Pierce. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Liberty Hill Cemetery, Bienville, LA. Visitation will be prior to the service on Tuesday, beginning at 10 a.m.
Alice Jean Sprawls Toms, 91, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on May 24, 2018. Born on June 5, 1923, she was a native of Bienville and a long-time resident of Bossier City. Jean held a Master's Degree in Education from Louisiana Tech University. She taught Science and Home Economics. She had many talents and hobbies that included sewing, china painting, playing Bridge and cooking. She traveled extensively with her beloved husband of 66 years, who preceded her in death, Tom E. Toms. Jean cherished her many friends and loved her family deeply.
She is survived by her son, Buster Toms and wife, Vicki, grandchildren, David Toms and wife, Sonya, Tami Jean Byrd and husband Kevin, Tracey Barringer and husband, Cole, great grandchildren, Jacob Byrd, Nick Byrd, Carter Toms, Anna Toms, Brock Van Hoy, Witten Van Hoy and Emmi Van Hoy. She is preceded in death by her parents, P.G. and Willie Sprawls and her husband, Tom E. Toms.
Honoring her as pallbearers will be her great grandsons and grandson-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made in Jeans' name to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.
