Alice Laverne Mathes was born in Minden, Louisiana on July 9, 1945. Alice was welcomed into Heaven by Our Lord and Savior on February 23, 2025.
She lived in Doyline most of her young life and graduated from Doyline High School in 1963. Some of her favorite things to do were hunting, fishing and traveling. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her great-granddaughter Ava.
She had many jobs in her life but the most memorable were at Carver Manufacturing where she made fishing baits. Then she worked at Army Ammunition Plant for 12 years and then she worked at her favorite store (Wal Mart) for many years until she retired. She made many long-lasting friends along the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Clyde Mathes and Mary Louise Barlow Mathes, grandparents, Clifton Mathes and Zuma Johnson Mathes and Ceola Barlow Deason and Jesse Thompson Mathes and son J.D. Bogues (Dee).
She is survived by her daughter, Laura Bogues Monroe (Eddie Robertson); sister, Dorothy Mathes Pearce, favorite sister-in-law, Shirley Bogues Kirkham, grandchildren, Abey Archer Burroughs (Tatum), Michael Archer, Brooke Archer, Heath Bogues, Andrew Bogues, and Marley Bogues; daughter-in-law, Colby Gray Bogues; granddaughter-in-love, Emily Dominie, great-granddaughter, Ava Archer, first husband and life-long friend, J. D. Junior Bogues; favorite child, Emily Marie Mathes (cat), and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at West Lake Cemetery in Doyline, Louisiana under the direction of Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana. Officiating will be Bro. Doug Gregg.
Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Bristol Hospice and Presbyterian Village Nursing Facility, I truly love each and everyone of you. All of you took such great care of my mom. From day one you treated us all like family. I will be forever grateful.
