Alice Carter Nixon passed away peacefully on December 20, 2017. Visitation will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Summer Grove United Methodist Church with services following at 1:00 pm. Rev. Rachel McConnell-Switzer will be officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Hall Summit, Louisiana.
Alice was born November 9, 1940, in Oak Grove, Louisiana, to Clyde and Clarice Carter.
Alice graduated from Gibsland High in 1958, and attended Northwestern State University, where she met and married the love of her life, Jack Nixon.
Alice was a beloved and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved being a member of Summer Grove UMC, where she faithfully attended the Friendship Class, served on numerous committees, was an active member of UMW, and cherished fellowship with her dearest friends.
Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Nixon; her parents, Clyde and Clarice Carter; siblings Frances Carter Warner, Don Carter, and Stanley Carter. Those left to honor her life are her daughter, Michelle and spouse, Steven Bayer; daughter, Janet Nixon Mercon; grandchildren Lauren Bayer Wideman, Alexander Bayer, Miriam (Claire) Bayer, Jarred Foster, Jacob Foster, Brendan Mercon, and Madison Grace Mercon; great granddaughter Annabelle Alice Wideman; brother Wayne Carter; brother, Lorris Carter and spouse Elaine Carter; and cousin Judy Schoolcraft, who was like a sister to her.
Honoring Alice as pallbearers will be Lorris Carter, Steven Bayer, Wayne Carter, Jarred Foster, Jacob Foster and Brendan Mercon.
