Shreveport, La- Almet Frances Lindley Rust was born on January 30, 1928. She went to meet her Savior on January 5, 2015 after a brief illness.
The family would like to invite you to celebrate the life of "Meta". Services will be held at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel on January 9, 2015 at 2 PM with the Reverend Denny Duron officiating, assisted by Mike Barber. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the funeral home.
"Meta" was raised in Seminole, TX and attended college at North Texas State University. She promised her parents she would graduate college before getting married. She graduated on May 29, 1949 and married the love of her life, Durward, on May 30, 1949.
The two of them moved to Shreveport in 1952 and spent the rest of their years there. There were many people whose lives she touched over the years. She created lifelong friendships while attending several churches. Broadmoor Methodist, Life Tabernacle, Shreveport Community Church and Word of Life all felt her presence of the years.
She was an integral part of Mike Barber Prison Ministries as a Director of the women's division. She touched thousands of lives over the years inside of prisons all over the south.
She travelled the world with several different ministries and was a frequent visitor to her favorite place, Israel.
None of those travels compared to her travels with Durward "Rusty". They travelled throughout the US via motorhome and enjoyed every moment of it.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Thomas F. and Irene Lindley. She is now rejoined with Durward "Rusty" Rust.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita L. Rust, M.D. and her son, Duward "Woody" Rust, Jr. and daughter in law, Christie. Three brothers, T. Foster Lindley, Albert Lindley (Twin Brother) and wife, Peggy, and John William Lindley and wife Gail. Two sisters in law, Rosella Rust and JoAnn Davis. Five grandchildren, Darla O'Brien, Lindley Rust, Durward "Dusty" Rust, III and wife, Whitney, Savannah Rust, and Jackson Rust. She also had one great grandchild, Wyatt Rust.
Pallbearers are Durward Rust, Jr, Durward Rust, III, Jackson Rust, Wayne Rust, Taylor Rust, Dennis Aaron and Mike Barber.
The family would like to acknowledge the kindness shown to us by the MICU staff at Willis Knighton North and in particular, the compassionate care given to Meta and her family by Dr. Jumah.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Open Range Fellowship in Greenwood, La.
