Shreveport, LA Alton R. Kiser Alton R. Kiser, 88, left to be with our Lord and Savior on August 12, 2017. A celebration of his life will be on Wednesday, August 16, in the chapel at First Baptist Church in Minden at 2:00. Visitation with the family will be prior to the funeral at 12:30, also at the church. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden. Alton was born on February 7, 1929 in Sherman, Texas. It was there that he met June Morrison, the love of his life. They were married on July 22, 1950, and had just celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary at the time of his passing. Alton proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Cabot. Throughout his professional career in retail management, Alton worked for West & Co in Minden, and as manager of the Gibson stores in Minden and in Gainesville, Georgia. He was also in management of several Wal Mart stores in Texas and Louisiana. In his retirement years, Alton enjoyed working at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, where he was able to put his love of interacting with people to good service. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Minden for many years, serving as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. Alton is survived by his wife, Marian LeJune Morrison Kiser and their daughters Marian Duggan (husband Sam), Martha Love (husband Terry) and Kathy Cronic (husband Steve). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amy Bradley-Hole, Jay Benton, Melinda Jagger, Cody Cronic, Trey Smith, Molly Vance, James Love and Andrew Love, and by seven great-grandchildren Jack and Finn Bradley-Hole, Ben and Will Vance, Carolann and Adeline Love, and the newest little family member, Emma Jagger. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Alton will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew him. Our Dad's greatest joy was his family. He lovingly cared for Mom during their last years together, and they both loved nothing more than to be surrounded by all the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jay Benton, Cody Cronic, Trey Smith, Pat Vance, James Love and Andrew Love. In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to the Alzheimer's Association, First Baptist Church Building Fund, or the charity of your choice. Rose-Neath Funeral Home Minden, Louisiana 71055
