Alton Charles Mason, Sr.

Shreveport, LA - Alton Charles Mason, Sr. was born on March 23, 1929 in Vivian, LA and departed this life on September 21, 2015 in Paris, TX. Irene O'Daniel became his wife on June 3, 1948 and they celebrated 58 years blessed years together. A.C. was employed as manager of an A&P Supermarket for 25 years and upon retirement became self-employed. He was a faithful devoted member of Kings Temple United Pentecostal Church in Shreveport for 55 years. During this time he served in various capacities, such as Board Member, Sunday School, Superintendent and Administrative Assistant. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in his honor at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Kings Temple UPC, 8951 Kingston Road, Shreveport, LA 71118. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Mike Hudspeth and Pastor Damon Magee will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Kings Temple UPC. A.C. was preceded in death by his mother, Ellie B. Parmer; father, Alton J. Mason; wife, Irene O'Daniel Mason; sister, Bertie Long. He is survived by daughter, Donna Myre and husband, Robert of Paris, TX; son, Charles Mason and wife, Freida of Bossier City, LA; sister, Virginia Gewin of Tyler, TX; brothers, Elvis Mason of Dallas, TX and Ray Mason of Boca Raton, FL; three granddaughters, Caronda Adams, Kyran Hamner and Nicole Meshell; 9 great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Caleb, Chayden, Kylei, Kallyn, Sterling, Korbin, Colby, and Collins; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Honoring A.C. as pallbearers will be Craig Adams, Darren Hamner, Royce Yates, Brian Kelso, Bennie Rose, and Caleb Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be A.B. Campbell, Larry Campbell, Harold Welch, Al McKinney, Lynn Poole, and Roger Myre A.C. was a man of great integrity and his love, support and compassion for others will be immensely missed. The family would like to say a special thanks to Stillhouse Rehabilation and Health Center for their excellent love and care for our dad, Alton C. Mason, Sr.
