Alvin Richard Smith

SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Alvin Richard Smith, 69, will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Rose Park Baptist Church, 5560 Buncombe Road, Shreveport, LA 71129. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Officiating will be Dr. B.J. Rocky Maddox. Richard was an avid Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR fan. Racing was a huge part of his life. He raced everything from motorcycles to race cars. He also loved hunting and fishing. His family was most important to him and he will truly be missed. Richard was born on August 22, 1946 in Shreveport to Mr. Alvin George and Mrs. Mary Josephine McDearmont Coen and passed away on August 26, 2015. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; son, Alvin Richard "Richie" Smith, Jr; step-father, Eugene Coen, Jr. those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 29 years, Carol White Smith; son, Carl Smith; daughters, Angie Scriber and husband, Jeff, and Brandy Rasberry; step-son, Todd Harp and wife, Michelle; step-daughter, Lori Liddle and husband, Todd, 18 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Franklin Ray Smith and wife, Mary and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Honoring Richard as pallbearers will be Todd Harp, Kalem Lincoln, Baylen Smith, Spencer Liddle, Mark Smith, Bruce Blake, Emit Dizadare and Darrell Hoover. Honorary pallbearers will be the Auditorium Sunday School Class men. The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Willis Knighton Cancer Treatment Center and Willis Knighton North. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to Rose Park Baptist Church, Benevolent Fund, and 5560 Buncombe Road, Shreveport, LA 71129.
