Shreveport, La - A celebration of life for Amelia Fern Porta, 75, will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Entombment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2015 at Rose-Neath's Southside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor David Daniel.
Amelia was born January 28, 1940 in Falfurrias, TX to John T. and Viola Fern Atkinson. She passed away on January 30, 2015. Amelia was a pianist and she played the French horn in her high school band. She was her class valedictorian. She loved reading mysteries and loved cooking for her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Leonard Porta, brother, John T. Atkinson, Jr., sister, Jeanette Yvonne Atkinson, sister-in-law, Barbara Sue Atkinson, brother-in-law, Ollie Gene Ducey, and daughter, Kirstie Anne Jordan. She is survived by her son, James Kevin Polman, and his wife Cindy; daughter, Viola Fern Morris; siblings, Loretta Ducey, and Willa Mae Chandler; grandchildren, Leslie Obholz, Kurt Morris, Laura Morris, Allyson Polman, and Luke Morris; and great grandchild, Teal Poland.
She will be missed by her family.
