She passed away November 9, 2014, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. In characterizing Amy, we are drawn to the symbol of a Steel Magnolia. She was the steel that bound her family together, strong, durable and ever steady in her resolve. Our magnolia blossom was beautiful and delicate. She was a woman of great dignity and perseverance. Amy was a truly remarkable lady. Her love and support was ever reaching to not only those bound by blood but also those bound by her never-ending heartstrings. Amy and her husband, Roy were avid sportsmen. They both enjoyed the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating and sharing that passion with friends and family. She also had a special interest in rock collecting and searching for Indian artifacts. Her children and grandchildren were the greatest joy in her life, she was extremely proud of them. Her passion for animals began as a young child. They were part of the family from her horses to her dogs and cats each given a special place in her heart and home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Roy Lynn Pilkinton, parents and brother, Charles McClelland Hutchins, Jr., and brother-in-law, Blackshear Hamilton Snyder, Sr. She is survived by her daughters, Amy Louise Pilkinton, Lisa Pilkinton Gable and husband Rick, "youngest" daughter, Lori H. Padgett, grandchildren, Matthew Allen Gable and wife, Ashley of Baton Rouge, LA, Sarah Frances Gable of San Antonio, TX, sister-in-law, Margaret Pilkinton Snyder, very special cousin Edwina Menefee Ewell, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many others whom she considered her extended family. Honoring Mrs. Pilkinton as pallbearers will be Matthew Gable, Blackshear Snyder, Jr., Roy Curtis Menefee, Buddy Padgett, Gehlen Padgett, Daniel Padgett, Chandler Padgett and Kaylan Worley. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Breitschopf, Rick Gable, Ralph Merritt and Roddy Pilkinton, A special thanks to her physicians, Charles Powers M.D., Gerry San Pedro M.D. and Ronnie Lambert M.D. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or the charity of your choice.
