Amy Oakes Wren

It is with a very heavy heart that we inform you that Amy Oakes Wren, Department Chair for Accounting and Business Law and Associate Professor, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on Saturday, April 10, 2021. She is survived by her spouse, Brad Wren; her two sons, Bradley and Will Wren; her daughter, Emily Feazel and husband, Stephen; and grandson, Callum Feazel. Amy Oakes Wren went to St. Vincent Academy for high school. She later attended the University of Arkansas, was a member of Chi Omega, and received her Bachelor of Arts in History in 1987 and her J.D. in 1990 from U of A as well. Most people know that Amy was a huge Razorback\'s fan! Amy began her journey with Louisiana State University in Shreveport in 1991 in the College of Business as a temporary instructor in the Department of Management and Marketing. In 1992, she was hired as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting and Business Law. Amy was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in August 1998 and later became Department Chair in August 2018. She hosted students for many years on trips abroad including trips to Germany and Sydney, Australia. She was actively involved on campus including serving on the University Hearing Panel, the Policy and Personnel committee, various search committees and so much more. Amy was completing her 30th year of service to LSUS this academic year. She had also just submitted her packet to be considered for promotion to the rank of full professor. Amy was so incredibly smart; had a very bubbly personality and an incredible sense of style. She had this way of making employees and students feel welcome and people just knew that she cared about them. It was quite evident in her interactions with them by the way that she intently listened, the questions she asked and most definitely by that undeniable bright smile on her face. Amy was known for her passions including justice, Route 44 Sonic cokes, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Def Leppard, Harry Potter, travel, family, and friends. She will be missed more than words can describe. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Shreveport in the Sanctuary with a reception to follow in Fellowship Hall. Officiating the service will be Dr. Steven Bell. LSUS friends and family, there are ways in which you can remember Amy.
