Andrea "Andy" Lea Shoptaw

A memorial service will be held for Andrea Lea Shoptaw, 78, on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be Reverend Andrew Brewster.

Andrea, known affectionately as “Andy,” was born on September 1, 1946, to Dwain Weaver and Juanita Ford Weaver in Dufor, Oregon, and passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025, in Haughton, Louisiana.

Andy devoted many years to her career as an Orthodontist Assistant, finding fulfillment in helping her patients achieve the smiles they had always dreamed of. Her dedication to her work was evident in her thoughtful care, often extending her efforts beyond regular hours to ensure everyone felt supported and valued.

Andy’s gentle nature made her beloved by all who met her. She shared a special bond with animals, reflecting the compassion and warmth in her heart. A true nurturer, she was known for her green thumb and could bring even the most struggling plants back to life, transforming her home into a lush sanctuary.

Her greatest pride was raising her two children as a single parent, embracing her role with love and unwavering strength. She dearly loved her children, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Andy was fiercely protective of her family and was known for her spirited personality—kind and witty with just the right amount of sass that endeared her to those around her.

Andy’s bright smile, sharp humor, and boundless love left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

Andy was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, Damon Melton, and wife, Angela; daughter, Kelle Melton Smallwood and husband, Eddy; granddaughters, Paige Melton and Andrea Smallwood; grandsons, Brandon Clark and Justin Clark along with her great-grandchildren and extended family.
