Andrew (Andy) Lee Bridges, Jr., age 94, passed away on October 8, 2024, in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was born on February 6, 1930, in Peason, Louisiana to Andrew Lee Bridges, Sr and Ethel Mae Cook Bridges.
A visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. with services to follow at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2024, located at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive in Shreveport. Officiating the service will be Minister Wayne Bridges. Burial will take place at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024.
Andy graduated from Florien High School in Florien, Louisiana in 1947. After graduating from high school, Andy served in the United States Air Force from 1948 until 1952. He went on to further his education at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana and graduated in 1968. He married the love of his life, Connie Holmes Bridges on December 10, 1949. Andy worked as an accountant in the Oil and Gas Industry. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, wood working, visiting with family and friends, talking on the phone, drinking coffee with his coffee friends in Stonewall, and watching his great-great niece, Kinsley, play softball on his phone and television. Andy attended church services and activities at Summer Grove Baptist. He faithfully served his church by being on the team that counted the Sunday offering for many years. Andy enjoyed his Monday night bible study class with his friends. He never met a stranger and loved to talk! (Bridges characteristic!). Andy will be remembered as a loving, kind, soft spoken man who was extremely patient.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Ethel Bridges; wife, Connie Holmes Bridges; brothers, Thomas Benjamin (Benny) Bridges and Jardis Cleo (JC) Bridges; sister, Miami Bridges Spears; niece, Judy Bridges Brossette; and great-niece, Jennifer Bridges.
He is survived by his nieces, Karen Spears McCall and husband Johnny of Shreveport, Louisiana, Sandra Spears O’Farrill and husband Rick of Crossville, Tennessee, Norma Jean Bridges Smith of Mesa, Arizona, and Sheila Bridges Chesson and husband Walter of Princeton, Texas; nephews, Wayne Bridges and wife Stacy of Ruston, Louisiana, Gary Bridges and wife Christy of Zwolle, Louisiana, Mark Bridges and wife Dana of West Lake, Louisiana; along with a host of great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Steve and Brenda Chandler, Randy and Lois Chandler, Jim and Bernice Harvey, and John and Kathy Lewis for your love, help, and support. Memorials can be to St. Jude's.
