Andrew V. "Andy" Loftus, III
KEATCHIE, LA- Services for Andrew V. Loftus, III will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Rev. Charles Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Keatchie, LA. Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 1:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Andy was born on May 16, 1938 in Stonewall, LA and passed away April 28, 2016. He served in the Louisiana Army National Guard. Andy was in banking for over fifty years, beginning his career with Commercial National Bank. He will be especially remembered for his years at South Park Branch on Mackey Lane where he developed so many relationships with customers and employees alike. He retired as a Sr. Vice President with BanCorp South. In addition to his successful career in banking he also enjoyed cattle farming. For over forty years he was an integral part in the success of the Annual State Fair of Louisiana Jr. Livestock Sale. He never missed The Sale and could always be counted on to get the highest bid for the children. He also supported FFA Livestock Exhibitions and was a financial supporter for area 4-H Clubs. Recently he was inducted into the Louisiana 4-H Club Hall of Fame. He served on the Ark-La-Tex Agricultural Council, The State Fair of Louisiana Board of Directors and served in many positions in The West Shreveport Lions Club. Andy served as a Deacon of Shiloh Baptist Church in Keatchie, LA and actively served in many capacities on the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery Association, and DeSoto Parish Cattlemen Association. He was an avid supporter of the Grand Cane Central School.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his uncle Bryan Hassell and his wife Katie, brother, Danny Loftus, and his sister Edith Faye Loftus Henderson. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Zelda Chamberlain Loftus; adopted children, Lynn Loftus and Sandra Loftus; sister, Mary Sue Loftus Atkisson; brother, Burton L. Loftus and wife Nell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and special friends who will all remember the impact made on their lives by "Poppy" or "Uncle Andy".
The family would like to send a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Willis- Knighton North for their care and compassion.
Honoring Andy as pallbearers will be Dan Caldwell, Bill Henderson, Jon Lowe, Johnny May, Richard Sale, and Dennis Wilson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Ark-La-Tex Agricultural Council and the West Shreveport Lions Club.
