Shreveport, La- Anice Hamersky, 75, passed away on March 14, 2015. When she put down her roots in Shreveport over 50 years ago, she made it her home forever.
Anice is survived by her loving husband of 56 years: Donald Glenn Hamersky, their children: Lenard Hamersky and Annette Hamersky Colyar, and grandchildren: Cynthia Colyar Videtto and husband Christian Videtto, Christopher Colyar and wife Carolyn Colyar, Megan Hamersky, and Nicole Hamersky. She is also survived by her Uncle Rix and Aunt Phyllis Shanline.
For much of her life, Anice was a homemaker and volunteer. She volunteered in her children's school organizations and for many years she was actively involved in Girl Scouts, as a member in her youth and as a Girl Scout volunteer in many roles, including Troop Leader and Leader Trainer. She did not enter the workforce until later than many people. She then fulfilled herself with service to others in the workplace. In her spare time, she was an avid reader and enjoyed needlecrafts.
Anice's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to those who cared for and attended to Anice during her illness, especially the team from Willis-Knighton Cancer Center and Willis-Knighton Hospice of Louisiana who provided untold service to Anice and her family in her last days.
Funeral service will be held 12 noon Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at funeral home. Interment will follow after service at Forest Park West Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure or any other breast cancer charity of your choice.
