Anita was born on January 7, 1932, to Charles and Irene Dodson in Oil City, Louisiana, and passed away peacefully on July 27, 2023, in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Anita was nicknamed “Sug” as a child by her family because she was the sweetest person you could ever meet. She was known to her family and friends by this nickname and most people didn’t even know her real name was Anita. She graduated from Bossier High School at the age of 16 in 1948. She married her high school sweetheart and one true love, Don on July 8, 1950. Together they settled down in Benton where they raised their four children. She absolutely loved music and the way it spoke to her. She always said she could just feel it. She had a passion for dancing and loved dancing with her husband every chance she got. They took square dancing classes together for fun and were known around town to clear a dance floor when they took to it. She had a devotion to her husband and children that never wavered and was always their biggest fan and supporter. She held many different titles throughout her life and worked in a variety of occupations. The ones that were the most impactful and meaningful were being the secretary for the Cypress Black Bayou Recreation and Water Conservation District where she worked for many years. She later joined the Bossier Sherriff’s Department where she was even awarded the honor of Bossier Parish Sherrif’s Deputy of the Year in 1990. She loved the work she did and held great respect for all those she worked with. She retired from the Sherriff’s Department in 1991 but kept herself plenty entertained. She loved to work in her flower beds and feed and watch her hummingbirds. She was a huge football fan. When you marry an athlete and football coach you develop a passion for the game. She went to countless games in support of her sons, grandsons, and husband. She supported all the kids and grandchildren playing taxi, coach, and cheerleader for every activity they participated in. She was always ready for a good time and enjoyed herself a nice glass of wine or an ice-cold margarita and a Winston. She loved her pets, her friends, and her family with all her heart. She lived a full and exciting life and left here knowing she was loved.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald E. Millen; son, Don E. Millen; brother-in-law, Roy F. Millen and nephew, Eric Millen. She is survived by her children, David E.
