Mansfield, LA--Ann Jowell Woods passed away on August 31, 2018 after a brief illness. She was proceeded in death by her mother Irene Halbert Tatum, father Harold Jowell, husband R.V. "Fats" Woods, and daughter Susan Kay Woods. She is survived by her two children Lee Woods and Lauri Woods, granddaughter Stephanie Deroche and husband Jeremy, granddaughter Megan Edel, husband Dennis, and two great grandchildren Xander and Zenya Edel.
Ann graduated from Mansfield High School and attended Sam Houston State University as well as Louisiana State University at Shreveport. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mansfield where she shared her voice as part of the chancel choir every Sunday. One of her hobbies was gardening and at one time she served as President of the Mansfield Garden Club. She enjoyed playing bridge and researching family genealogy. Through both her fathers's and her mother's family she was officially recognized by the State of Texas as one of the "First Families of Texas". She was also quite proud to be a Daughter of the American Revolution.
Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Mansfield on September 22
nd at 10 AM. A celebration of life service will be held at 11.
