Gayle was born July 2, 1945, in Monroe, LA to Pete and Mary Dunn and passed away January 30, 2018 in Bossier City, LA. Gayle was a nurturing mother, an avid gardener, loved the outdoors, and animals. She taught her children the love of tent camping and fishing. She also loved people and never met a stranger. Gayle was a mother to six children, all who were the love of her life. She loved God and cherished God's word, and she encouraged her children to do the same.
Gayle worked all her life and taught her children to have a good work ethic and have respect for all people. She worked and was known as "The Plant Lady" at Lowes on Youree Dr. in Shreveport until her diagnosis with cancer in early 2017. She would go out of her way to help anyone with plant and gardening questions, she had the greenest thumb.
She was predeceased by her parents, her son Randy Cooney, and her brother Bill Dunn. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Billy Davis and wife Sheila, David Davis and wife Mary, Joey Davis and wife Debbye, and Marc Davis and wife Jenny; daughter, Missy Davis Brown and husband Mike; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Wesley, Bradley, Kathleen, Ashley and husband Nick, Allie, Joey, Will, Alec, Liana, and Tristan; also lifelong family friend, Johnny Eichler and wife Sharon.
The family would like to thank Vanessa Persley and the staff at Colonial Oaks Senior Care Centers, 300 Hall for their compassionate care and attention they provided our mother during her battle with cancer.....which she ultimately won.
Honoring Gayle as pallbearers will be her five children and their father, Bill Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Eichler, Mike Brown, Wesley, Bradley and Alec Davis.
She's already giving gardening tips in Heaven!
