SHREVEPORT, LA - Annette Marie Van Peene Gleason, 79, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at a local hospital after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be held at Rose Neath Marshall Street Funeral Home, Shreveport from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018. The memorial service will be on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Broadmoor Baptist Church's Tatum Chapel in Shreveport, Louisiana following a brief visitation that will begin at 9:30 a.m. Officiating will be Dr. Larry Williams of Broadmoor Baptist Church. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. in the Minden Cemetery, Minden, Louisiana.
Annette was born January 24, 1939 in New Orleans, Louisiana grew up in Minden, Louisiana and resided in Shreveport, Louisiana for 55 years. She attended Rhodes College, formerly known as Southwestern at Memphis and Louisiana Tech University. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Annette's greatest joy came from giving of her time and talents as a volunteer kindergarten Sunday school teacher. She will always be remembered by her friends and family for her warm smile and incredible gift of making conversation. She never met a stranger and was loved by all who met her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fernand Jules and Roma Brewerton Van Peene. Annette is survived by her husband of 58 years, William Thomas Gleason of Shreveport, Louisiana; daughter Susan M. Gleason of Texarkana, Arkansas; sister Jeanne Van Peene Bain of Shreveport, Louisiana; niece Therese Lambert of Ft. Collins, Colorado; and granddaughter Alexandra M. DeLee of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Alan Borne and many friends and health care professionals that have been of great support and comfort caring for Annette.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Broadmoor Baptist Church or the charity of one's choice.
