Annie Ruth Leonard Harris

June 10, 1940 — December 13, 2024

Annie Ruth Leonard Harris

Our sweet “Mimi,” Annie Ruth Leonard Harris, 84, of Shreveport, Louisiana went to be with Jesus, our Lord and Savior, on December 13, 2024, with her loving husband of 61 years, Robert Price Harris, by her side.

Ann was born on June 10, 1940, to Clarence and Alma Leonard in Bogue Chitto, Mississippi. After she graduated from Bogue Chitto High School, she went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Education at the University of Southern Mississippi. After college she started her teaching career at Columbia High School in Columbia, Mississippi where she met Price.

Price and Ann were married June 22, 1963, and Ann got a taste of ministry life to come on their honeymoon when she spent the last part of it in revival in Price’s home church. She taught school for over 40 years, impacting her community through education and her love for children. She also taught at Calvary Baptist Academy K-12 with elementary being her love. When she wasn’t teaching, she could likely be found rocking kids in the nursery! Price and Ann went on to adopt daughter, Melodie, in 1966, and Jonathan, in 1970.

Melodie and Jon grew up in the church at the family’s beloved Calvary Baptist in Shreveport where Price and Ann served for many years. Ann retired from teaching at Waller Elementary and spent her time traveling on mission trips supporting her husband in the ministry. They made countless trips to share the Good News of the Gospel to many places around the globe, Romania and Jamaica among their favorites. She was a beautiful, loving, faithful servant of the Lord, loved by so many and impacted so many more! All Glory to God!

Ann is preceded in death by her parents; brother, James; and sister, Clara. She is survived by her husband, Robert Price Harris; her brother, Jewel Leonard; her two children, daughter, Melodie O’Bar and husband, Robert; son, Jon Harris and wife, Shana; and eight grandchildren, Brandon Byars and wife, Laura, Blake Byars and wife, Laina, Baylor Osborn, Parker Harris and fiancé, Mary, Jackson Harris and wife, Taylor, Jake Harris, Will Wallace, Katelyn Wallace, and great-granddaughters, Laikyn Jae, Allie Kate, and soon to be Addie Byars.

Services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 9333 Linwood Ave., Shreveport, LA on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. Visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m. and service at 2:00 p.m.

Honoring Ann as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Brandon, Blake, Baylor, Parker, Jackson, Jake and Will.
