Laura P. Solomon, 98, passed away on February 19, 2016 in Shreveport, Louisiana. A funeral service will be held at Rose-Neath Southside in Shreveport at 3:30 pm on Friday, February 26, 2016. The family will be receiving friends and relatives beginning at 2:00 pm on Friday. Interment will be at 12 noon on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mobile, Alabama.
Mrs. Solomon was born March 29, 1917 in Montgomery, Alabama to Willie Ezra Pinson, Sr. and Florence Idell Stoddard Pinson. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt and friend. She touched us all deeply with her kindness, patience, Christian love, life experiences, and wisdom. She significantly touched the lives of her niece, Nancy, and great-niece, Katherine. Her strong faith and devotion to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ dictated the exemplary life she led. Her gentle and precious spirit is cherished by many and will be deeply missed.
Laura was a successful realtor in the Mobile area prior to her retirement and relocation to Shreveport to be near her family. She was a faithful servant of God, teaching Sunday school for over two decades at Cottage Hill Baptist Church in Mobile. In Shreveport, Laura enjoyed many rewarding years of fellowship and Bible study with her adult Sunday school class at Calvary Baptist Church. She remained a faithful prayer warrior until the time of her death.
Mrs. Solomon is survived by her sister, Patricia Joyce Pinson Martin and husband, W. D. "Step" Martin, of Shreveport, along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great- nephews, and a host of friends. Special thanks to her caregiver and great-niece, Katherine Elizabeth Fremin, for making it possible that her later years were spent at home surrounded by her much-loved pets.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Billy" W. Solomon, her parents Willie and Idell Pinson, brothers Andrew Stoddard Pinson, Sr. and Willie Ezra Pinson, Jr., and sisters Sarah Elizabeth Pinson Putman and Mickie Nell Pinson Ray.
