HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Mr. Arnold Arvil Bearden, 90, at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Homer on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Garland Hughes and Bro. Hershel Bearden, officiating. Interment will follow at Union Springs Cemetery in Shongaloo, LA. The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. Mr. Bearden was born June 15, 1926 in Winnsboro, TX to Orbe and Myrtle Cannon Bearden. He entered into rest Friday, April 28, 2017 following a lengthy illness. Mr. Bearden served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Korea and then worked at the army ammunition plant in Minden. He retired from the LA Forestry Commission after 27 years. Mr. Bearden loved to run dogs, fox and deer hunt, work in his garden, fish at Lake Earling in Tyler, AR and travel. At Presbyterian Village, he enjoyed friends and playing Bingo. Mr. Bearden was preceded in death by his loving wife, Pauline Wedgeworth Bearden; 2 great-grandchildren, Christian Danielle and Joseph Gregory Manzanares; 3 sisters and 2 brothers; as well as, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He is survived by his son, Rickey Bearden and wife Sharon of Homer; sister, Geneva Jones of Minden, LA; 3 brothers, Hershel Bearden of Lufkin, TX, J.C. Bearden and wife Betty of Kilgore, TX and W.C. Bearden and wife Mary Jane of Chandler, TX; sister-in-law, Carolyn Bearden of Homer: 2 grandchildren, Leslie and husband, Matthew Manzanares of Homer and Robert Edwards of Leesville; great-grandchild, Jay Parker; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Doug Jones, Jerry Harr, Joe Tharp, Don Bennett, Cody Knoishton and Charles Pettit. A big "Thank you" to Aimee Hospice Care, Presbyterian Village, rehab and all people that took care of dad during his stay.
