Arthur A. Ogletree, Jr., 93, passed away Friday, June 25, 2021. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in Frost Chapel of First Baptist Church, 543 Ockley Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana. There will be a visitation prior to the service in the church parlor beginning at 1:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Reverend Ronney Joe Webb of FBC. Inurnment of Art's and Ann's ashes will follow the service at the Woods Memorial Garden Columbarium on the church grounds. Art was born March 22nd, 1928, in Shreveport, Louisiana., to Art A. Ogletree, Sr. and Mildred P. Ogletree. He was a life-long resident of Shreveport and a graduate of Fair Park High School. Art worked alongside his father for many years at Richmond Floors & Kitchens. Later he worked for Ivan Smith Furniture managing one of the older warehouses, from which he retired numerous times. Art was a member of First Baptist Church of Shreveport, where he married the love of his life, Ann Hodges Ogletree. They were married on June 9, 1951, when the church was located in downtown Shreveport. Anybody who visited with Art recently was told how much he loved and missed Ann, his wife of 67 years, who preceded him in death three years ago. He was also preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Marion J. and Mary H. Hodges; son-in-law, David L. Richardson; brother-in-law, Charlie Johnson; and sister-in-law, Linda O. Odom. Art is survived by his daughters, Patsy Ogletree of Shreveport and Nancy Ogletree Richardson of Baton Rouge; four grandchildren and their spouses, Andrew and Heather Richardson of Oxford, MS, Amy and David Mayronne of Willis, TX, Lauren and Madison Turner of Knoxville, TN, Patrick and Eliza Richardson of Franklin, TN; nine great-grandchildren, Natalie, Claire and Kyle Mayronne, Ann Hodges, James and Vaughn Richardson, Grace, Emma and William Turner; sister, Peggy O. Johnson of Shreveport; three brothers, Larry O. Ogletree of Montgomery, Texas, Erwin L. Ogletree and wife, Kay of Shreveport and Charlie L. Ogletree of Garland, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews and their families whom he adored. In addition he leaves behind his canine companions, Willow and Grace, two little doggies that he truly loved and doted on daily. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 543 Ockley Drive, Shreveport, LA 71106, or St. Jude Children\'s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank those of you who have shared kind words and thoughts about how much you thought of our father. It is truly a blessing to know how much he meant to so many people. "To live in the hearts of those we love is not to die."
