Funeral services will be held for Arthur Harold Durrett, 69, at the Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia, LA on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jon Lord officiating. Interment will follow at Arcadia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m. until service time. Mr. Durrett was born September 13, 1946 in Shreveport, LA to Benjamin Harold Durrett and June Hansen Durrett. He entered into rest Saturday, July 23rd at the Bienville Medical Center in Arcadia following a short illness. Mr. Durrett was an outstanding football player, and excelled in high school and college, graduating in 1964 from Arcadia High School and 1968 from Louisiana Tech with a degree in Civil Engineering. A Professional Engineer, Mr. Durrett retired from the State of Louisiana, Department of Highways and Transportation. He then entered into the family business, Durrett Bros., where he worked until his retirement. A veteran officer of the U.S. Navy, he was a member of the American Legion, the First United Methodist Church of Arcadia and enjoyed raising cattle on his Angus farm. Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Charlotte Ann Durrett of Arcadia, Nancy Durrett Driver and husband, Michael of Arlington, TX and Daisy Durrett Batman and husband, Bruce of Richardson, TX; aunt, Lennis Durrett Waite of Morganton, NC; first cousin, Sue Waite Johnson and husband, Paul of Morganton, NC and four nieces, Anna Adams and husband, David of Murphy, TX, Alyson Winter and husband, Matthew of Charlotte, NC, Julia Elizabeth Johnson of New York City, NY, and JoEllen Nancy Johnson of New Orleans, LA; and one great niece, Adeline June Adams of Murphy, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Arcadia.
