Charles was born on February 12, 1936 and passed away on November 23, 2014. He graduated from Humble High School and went on to spend 40 plus years in the Automotive Industry with Sealed Power Corporation where he had a vibrant career and thoroughly enjoyed all the men he worked with and was a natural born leader and salesman after retiring he moved from Texas to Shreveport 10 years ago. He loved to work in the yard, travel and fellowship with his family and friends... he never met a stranger there was no one he could not strike up a warm hello or a conversation with...After a long battle with cancer Charles passed away peacefully at his home. He was preceded by his parents, Arthur Washington and Eula Mae Wooten. He is survived by his wife, Dora C. Wooten; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Michael Howard; grandchildren, Blake and Paige; daughter, Lori Krouskos; granddaughter, Chassity Taylor; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Nolan, and Lane Taylor; step daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Bubba Collins; step grandchildren, Bo and Paul Collins, Rachel Milner; step-great granddaughter, Sydney Collins, siblings, Marth Jane Williams, Wilda Mitchell, David and Ann Wooten.
I think we would all agree that Charles was an incredibly colorful character. I don't think any of us will ever meet anyone who was so social and friendly. I remember when he moved to Shreveport for the first time, and he got to meet the Bradshaw's and other friends of Dora's, it was like he was just picking up a conversation with long lost friends.
All who knew him loved him even when he was giving advice. You didn't necessarily want the advice, but you got it anyway. Sometimes you'd try to change the subject, but Charles wouldn't stop until you understood his advice! I have no doubt he is giving The Lord advice right now, perhaps there's a spider's web on a cloud that needs removing, because you know that if there is, Charles will find it!
If you had a cobweb, he'd explain to you how best to remove it and then continue with a story about he had an attic full of cobwebs in 1953. Of course, if the web was because of something that was broken, he'd make sure you knew how to fix it, what tools to use, and whether Lowes, Home Depot or Wal-Mart had the best deals. But that was Charles, always talking, always advising, but doing so in an incredibly heartfelt, blessed and helpful way.
Speaking of "blessed", no-one will ever forget his meal blessings. To this day, I don't think anyone truly understood every word, but that's ok! He was communicating with God and that's what matters. His breakfast blessings were the best, but he'd already been up a couple of hours before anyone else! If Charles was awake, then it was time to get up and do some yard work!
At the start, I mentioned that Charles was a colorful character; he was kind, loved and generous and there is no doubt that Heaven is a little bit more colorful and clean, but the world is a little grayer. We will all miss you, Charles.
