Audrey Lee Hill Wibker passed away May 14, 2023, after a two-year illness. She went to sleep peacefully with her two daughters at her side. She was 90 years old.
Audrey was a lifelong resident of Shreveport, born January 20, 1933. She was raised in the Caddo Heights neighborhood and graduated from Byrd High School in 1950. She later attended LSU-Shreveport where she studied psychology and business administration.
She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Gayle Wibker (David Ramseur) of Anchorage, Alaska, and Cynthia Lynn Wibker of Sanford, Florida. She is also survived by her grandsons, Kevin Robert Grellman of North Hollywood, California and Andrew Wibker Grellman (Pamela MacKenzie Grellman) of Winter Garden, Florida; also by two great-grandchildren, AJ and MacKenzie Grellman, and five nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert William Wibker; her parents, Joseph Pinckney Hill, and Mossie Lee Greene Hill; and her sister, Jean Hill Byrd.
Audrey loved playing the piano, sewing, needlework, crochet, and knitting. Family members and friends have pieces of her handiwork. For over 50 years she was active in St. Luke’s United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, led the church craft group, worked at the annual pumpkin patch sale, and was active in the Methodist Women’s group, all before her illness. She looked forward to Fridays when she spent the day having lunch and playing dominoes with her three best friends from St. Luke’s – Carolyn, Lexine, and Sandy. She loved her many first and second cousins and cherished the family reunions, cruises, weddings, and special occasions spent together.
During her last two years, she resided at The Glen Retirement System where she enjoyed meeting new friends and reconnected with some old friends. She was active in bingo and started a domino group. She was blessed with two special caretakers, Vicki and Patte, who provided love and support during her final years.
Audrey Wibker will be remembered for her many acts of kindness and selflessness toward others. May she rest in peace with our love around her. A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Ave. in Shreveport. A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
