Barbara Treadway Bumgardner

Funeral services for Barbara Treadway Bumgardner, 66, will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Blanchard, 201 N. Attaway Ave., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens North Cemetery in Blanchard, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church and again preceding the funeral on Friday from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Officiating the service will be her brother, Rev. Bill Treadway.

Barbara was born on January 17, 1956 in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2022 in Shreveport.

Barbara was a 1974 graduate of Captain Shreve High School and studied briefly at Northwestern State University. She grew up in Shreveport and loved her years in Cedar Grove and at Southside Baptist Church. The majority of her adult years she was a resident of Blanchard. While Barbara worked many places, the jobs that brought her the most fulfillment were serving at Northwood High School in the cafeteria and as a teacher's aide. Barbara loved her church family at First Baptist Blanchard, fishing with friends, and spontaneous road trips, but her pride and joy were her two children, and more recently her grandsons.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Coleman Treadway and Iver Mae Anding Treadway. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Josh Bumgardner and wife, Emily of Forest Hill, Louisiana; daughter, Abigail Fertal and husband, Jason of Ruston, Louisiana; grandchildren, Luke, Jase, and Cooper; brothers, Bill Treadway of Blanchard, Louisiana, Bob Treadway and wife, Nancy of Grand Cane, Louisiana; sister, Vicky Foster and husband, Harry of Winnfield, Louisiana.

 

The family would like to thank their mother's exceptional caregivers at The Village Health Care at the Glen in Shreveport and at Lifepath Hospice, as well as her longtime physicians, Dr. Huan Le and Dr. Arthur Poch.
