SHREVEPORT, LA - Barbara Jean Clifton, age 82, of Shreveport, LA, passed away Wednesday April 5, 2017 after a lengthy illness. Family visitation will be on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home in Shreveport. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, officiated by Pastor Jimmy Clarke. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery.
Barbara was born December 29, 1934 in Tulsa, OK. She worked at Schumpert Hospital in her earlier years. Barbara played softball for the Shreveport Police Department. Later made "Queen" of the "Tops program." She also was a breast cancer survivor. Barbara was a very caring mother and her kids were her prized possession. She never missed a game and was always there for her children.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Margaret Witten, and great-granddaughter Miranda Leigh. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, E.K. Clifton; sons, Harold Clifton and spouse, Debbie, Steven Clifton and spouse, Dana and Keith Haley; daughter, Robin Clifton Allen and spouse, Laura; grandchildren, Keith Haley, Amanda Snider, Angela Allen, Scott Peters, Deanna Parrish, Kimberly Clifton, and Sarah Clifton. Barbara has numerous great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Barbara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was loved by many and could brighten the room with her beauty, sense of humor, and love she shared to many. Barbara loved spending time with her family and friends watching "Elvis" impersonators and her animals. The family wants to give many thanks to the Garden Court Nursing Home who took such great care of our mother and grandmother.
Honoring Barbara as pallbearers will be Steven Clifton, Harold Clifton, Keith Haley and Brian Parrish.
