Bossier City, LA - Barbara Elizabeth Thomas began her eternal life on March 28, 2015 following a lengthy illness. Services celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Bellaire Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Harper officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Hill Cemetery, Linden, Texas. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Bobbie was born in Charleston, SC on April 18, 1943 to Dorothy Haberthaler Sidders and Thomas H. Thomas, Jr. Bobbie lived in Atlanta, GA until she was 13 when she and her family moved to Shreveport where she met David, the love of her life. She attended Byrd High School and Guy's School of Cosmetology. Bobbie achieved her dream of becoming a Beautician, owning and operating several salons in the Shreveport Bossier area for some 40 years. Upon retiring from the beauty business, Bobbie enjoyed her time helping raise her grandchildren. Her greatest joy was being a proud Momma of her children and whatever they accomplished; and watching her grandchildren grow and achieve their dreams. She was a member of Bellaire Baptist Church, and her faith in our Lord and his promises comforts the minds of all who loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas "David" Smith; sister, Patricia Myrick; and stepfather, William "Bill" Sidders. She is survived by her children Randy Smith, Ronny Smith (Holly), Dawn Smith Barr (Bruce); Grandchildren, Jessica Agee Traverso (Justin), Madison Barr, Madeline Brooke Barr, and Renee' Smith; Great Grandchildren, Johnson and Cohen Traverso; Sister, Nancy Burgess (Frank); Aunt, Lillian Estes; Brother-In-Law, Wayne Smith (Linda), Sister-In-Law, Myrtie Fisher (Dennis); many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and beloved four legged companion, Maggie. Pallbearers will be Bruce Barr, Madison Barr, Guy Smith, Rohn Maxey, Wayne Smith II, CJ Carter, Anthony Leon-Guerrero, and Joseph Burgess. Honorary Pallbearers include Dan Barr, Wayne Smith, Dennis Fisher, Tim Colvin, Frank Burgess, Charles Burgess, Hal Smith and Joel Estes. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff and volunteers at Christus Schumpert Grace Home and St. Joseph's Hospice for their compassionate care. It is suggested that memorial donations be made to Grace Home, Shreveport or Bellaire Baptist Church, Bossier City.
