SHREVEPORT, LA - A service celebrating the life of Barbara Jean Gray Renfro, 84, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA with Jimmy Eppinette officiating. Interment will follow in Gray Community Cemetery, Gray, TX. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at the funeral home.
Barbara was born August 31, 1932, in Bonham Landing, LA... an oil camp on Caddo Lake out from Trees, LA to Fannie Mae Reynolds Gray and John Nathan Gray. She passed away peacefully August 11, 2017, in Bossier City, LA.
She graduated from Vivian High School in 1950, and entered Louisiana Tech in Ruston, LA in the fall of 1950, then transferred to Northwestern State in 1951 to complete her Bachelor's Degree. She was a teacher for 35 years with the Caddo Parish School System.
Barbara was a member of Northwoods Baptist Church.
Preceding Barbara in death were her parents; her sisters, Johnnie Mae Ivey, Mildred Parker, and Lou Ida Schuler; and brothers, J.W. Gray, and Jodie Gray. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 61 years, John P. Renfro; son, Greg Renfro and wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Nathan Renfro, and Hannah Renfro; numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
Honoring Barbara as pallbearers will be Nathan Renfro, Jeff Hartline, Michael Moore, Andy Bond, Drew Bond, and Mike Bradford.
