Shreveport, LA - Barbara Jean Williams, 82, passed away on Friday evening, August 5, 2016, from complications following a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday August 8, at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Funeral services, also at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel, will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday August 9, followed by burial at the church cemetery of First Baptist of Keithville, LA. Officiating will be Reverend Buddy Hampton, of Belcher Baptist Church.
Barbara "Babs" Williams was a native of Stonewall, LA and a resident of Shreveport for over 58 years. She was a member of Belcher Baptist Church of Belcher, LA. She graduated from Greenwood high school and went on to business school. She worked as an administrative office assistant at both LSU and Texas A&M Universities. After her husband Tommy graduated veterinary school, she assisted with his practice back in Shreveport. She raised three children to love animals and the country way of life. She was active in the American Quarter Horse Association and the halter class show horse circuit. She enjoyed helping her kids with sports and 4H projects. Later on she enjoyed spending time with grandkids and great grandkids.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father J. B. Bass, her mother, Evelyn Marie Snider and her husband, Tommy Williams. She is survived by two sons; Tommy Williams, Jr. and wife Susan of Tomball, TX; Kyle Williams and wife Debbie of Houston, TX; daughter Suzanne McDonald and husband Randy; adopted son Billy Alcorn; grandchildren Kylie Towns, Chaseton Williams, Dustin Reneau, Kelsey Bourg, Jordan Williams, Brianne House and twelve great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Don Williams, Dale Walton, Skipper Williams, Buddy Cook, Byron Copeland, John Richardson, Ned Wynn (Honorary), Ronnie Powers (Honorary) and Billy Wynn (Honorary).
