Ben Gerald Scallorn

Graveside services for Ben Gerald Scallorn, 93, will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at San Fernando Cemetery #3, 1735 Cupples Rd. in San Antonio, TX. A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd. in San Antonio from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Ben was born on July 3, 1929 in San Antonio, TX to Ben Scallorn, Jr. and Leona Cowan Scallorn and passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023 in Shreveport, LA.

Ben was a retired Air Force Colonel. After retiring, he enjoyed his life fishing on Lake LBJ, hunting, especially deer, traveling and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He had the talent to literally do anything with his hands. He was a wonderful husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be terribly missed. The family will forever love and cherish his memory.

Ben is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Leona Scallorn; wife, Shirly Scallorn; son, Douglas Lee Scallorn; brother, Leroy Scallorn; and sister, Mary Beth Braun. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Kenneth Scallorn and Steve Scallorn; former wife and mother of his three boys, Lydianne Hammons; stepchildren, Doug Henderson, Dink Henderson, Connie Henderson and Molly Henderson; 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Honoring Ben as pallbearers will be Kenneth Scallorn, Nick Scallorn, Jeff Shealy, Lyle Dixon, Jason Benson, Doug Henderson and Ryan Henderson.
