Berniece D Gates

Berniece Dawson Gates passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014. She was born in Bogata, Texas in 1920 and was married to Wilson Gates for 62 years. She was a resident of Shreveport for 72 years and a member of Providence Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, one brother, a son in law, and a grandson. Survivors include June Slaughter, Diane Pittman and husband Virgil, Jill Gravel and husband Sam, Jack Gates, Nelda Gates, David Gates and wife Bonnie, 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, one grandson to be born in September, and a special cousin, Maurine Sharkey. Pallbearers will be grandsons Steve Slaughter, Randall Slaughter, Marc Pittman, Jason Pittman, Chris Gates, Nick Gates, Ben Gates and John Paul Gates.
