Bertie E. Kennedy, 100, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away quietly in her sleep on August 6, 2016 at Compass Point Senior Living Masonic Complex in Dousman, Wisconsin. Visitation will be Thursday, August 11, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2016 at Broadmoor Baptist Church. Dr. Larry Williams will be officiating. Interment will follow the funeral atForest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave., Shreveport, LA. Bertie was a caring and loving wife to her husband, Rolland Kennedy of 61 years and caring mother to son, Ron. Bertie was born in Winn Parish, Louisiana on July 28, 1916. She received her nursing degree from old Charity Hospital and practiced as a registered nurse at Pacific Naval Station in California during WWII. She was a member of the Shreveport Chapter of the ABWA and a longtime member of the Broadmoor Baptist Church. Retired from LOF Glass Factory when operations shutdown and Riley Beard after 20 years of service where she worked as an industrial nurse. Bertie moved to Wisconsin in 2006 to be closer to family and grandchildren. Caring and compassionate, she was loved and will be missed by all. Bertie is survived by her son, Ronald Gene Kennedy and his wife, Karen; grandchildren, Rachal Elizabeth, Stacy Marie and Jacob Henry Kennedy all of Dousman, Wisconsin; her sister, Iwilla Allen and her husband, Glenn of San Antonio, Texas; and numerous other family and friends. Bertie is preceded in death by husband of 61 years, Rolland Henry Kennedy; her parents, George E. and Nettie P. Terral; brothers, W.C. Terral, R. Nell Terral, George E. Terral and Wilburn Terral; sisters, Christine Marable and Eva Roberts. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284 or the Shriner's Children Hospital, 3100 Samford Ave., Shreveport, LA 71103.
