Beryl Rachelle Richmond

SHREVEPORT, LA - Beryl Rachelle Smithe Richmond was born October 14, 1932 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She went on to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 after a lengthy illness. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernestine Elizabeth Crawford Smithe and Ralph Douglas Smithe; sister, Margaret Claire Smithe Colvin, and nephew Clifton Luther Colvin. She is survived by her beloved husband, best friend, and caregiver Kenneth Lee Richmond; son Kenneth Lee Richmond, Jr.; daughter Cynthia Richmond Welch and husband Mark. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren Amanda Andrews, Jennifer Wilson, Chip Welch, Chad Welch, Daniel Wilson, Lea Robinson, and Lauren Richmond; 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Beryl was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for many, many years. She was in real estate for 18 years, retiring in 1994 with her husband when they, along with her mother, enjoyed much traveling. Pallbearers Wendell Collins, Butch Bunch, Larry Arnold, George Smith, Chip Welch, Chad Welch. Honorary pallbearer Ted Frisch. Pallbearers chosen by Beryl many years ago, who have gone before her Jim Branim and Melvynne Primos. Services will be held at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel as follows, visitation will be Monday, July 4, 2016 from 5 -7 p.m. Funeral will be Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at NWLA Veterans Cemetery, Keithville, LA. Officiating will be her grandson, Rev. Daniel Wilson of Calvary United Pentecostal Church. Thank you for all the love and support shown to us during this time. We would especially like to thank the staff of Christus Schumpert Highland, Valerie, Cheri, Judy, Michelle, and Rev. Keith Adcock, not only for the care you gave Beryl, but also for the non-rushed visits to our home, and comfort you brought to our the family during the last 3 1/2 months.
