Bessie Lee Trahan

Bessie Lee Trahan, 76, was born on February 13, 1945 in Timpson, Texas to Fred Hammers and Ruby Lee Wiley Hammers and passed away Monday, May 31, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She grew up on the old home place in Timpson, Texas, where she attended school and she has over many years often shared her fondest memories of her childhood. She worked as a homemaker most of her life. Her favorite hobby was gardening, mostly vegetables, which she always enjoyed just sitting to watch them grow and the joy she received from her harvest. She loved to sew and to doodle with her arts and crafts. She was so talented with her creativity in art. Her passion was with caring for animals that were helpless, and with helping rescue centers to find them a loving family and home. She was not much for traveling or leaving her home, she loved being at home where she enjoyed her peace and quiet. She would sit outside for hours just to hear and watch nature. She especially loved tending to her little bird sanctuary. She even would feed the raccoons that managed to find their way to her door. She was giving, caring and had a very imaginative sense of humor. She could make you laugh without much effort. She had zero tolerance for drama or conflict. She was very strong willed whenever she was put into a situation that caused her to have to be. She would let anyone know when they were wrong very quickly. She would also tell anyone if they don't love her enough to respect her, then just stay away, so that she could enjoy her life in peace. And that's the way she wants it to continue to be even now that she has left this world. She has now gone to live in her eternal heavenly home, that can never be taken from her, and in the peace that she has always desired. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Fred and Ruby Lee Hammers of Timpson, Texas; one brother, Frank Hammers of Longview, Texas; two sisters, Ann Freiburer and Frances Livington of Shreveport, Louisiana; one nephew, Rodney Hammers of Gary, Texas; one grandson, Rodney Wayne Richard of Galveston, Texas and she lost the love of her life, Earl S. Nix from Shreveport, Louisiana. She has left behind those that miss her the most, and will always cherish her memories and honor her final wishes, daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Kay Martin and Gary Ray Martin of Shreveport, Louisiana; son and daughter-in-law to be, Roger Wayne Richard and Ann Peavy of Shreveport, Louisiana; grandchildren, Christopher Martin, Jared Martin and wife, Kayla Martin, Jesse Richard, Cody Richard, Lindsay Dillon and husband, William "Billy" Dillon, Riley Peavy and Toby Peavy; great-grandchildren, Sara Martin, Allera Martin, Madison Bollinger, MacKinzie Bollinger, and Aiden Richard and one brother, Donald Wayne Hammers of Shreveport, Louisiana.   Don\'t bring me flowers when I am dead, Come see me today, while I\'m sick in bed. Don\'t cry for me, when I\'m no longer here, Come smile with me, no need for tears.   Don\'t try to remember how I used to be, Come by today and you can see. Make good use of time, while I\'m still around, Don\'t wait for tomorrow, when I\'m in the ground.
