Betty Kathryn Akes Beightol

A “Celebration of Life” service will be held for Betty Kathryn Akes Beightol, 81, on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Scott Ethridge.

Betty entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 26^, 2023. She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Richard Beightol; daughter, Leslie Starr and husband, John; son, Chad Beightol and wife, Tamara; brother, Bobby Akes and wife, Kay; grandchildren, Dylan Leon, Brayden Starr, McKaylin Beightol, Kaleb Beightol and many nieces and nephews. The family also recognizes her long-time caregiver, Vonda Jacobs.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nadine Akes; son, Steven Beightol; daughter, Patricia Beightol; granddaughter, MacKenzie Beightol; and two brothers, James Akes and Ray Akes.

Mrs. Beightol was a graduate of Fair Park High School and a lifelong resident of Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a devoted Christian and Montessori Educator who spent most of her adult life teaching, inspiring and loving children across the city of Shreveport. She always saw the good in the world and the best in others. Her beautiful smile will not be forgotten.
