Surrounded by her family, Betty Jo Sanford Chandler left her earthly home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 30, 2018. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, from 10:30 to 12 at Rose-Neath South, Shreveport, LA; funeral service will follow at noon. Burial will be held at Forest Park-West.
She was born December 14, 1931, in Shreveport, LA, and passed away peacefully. Betty worked many years in the oil and gas industry and retired from Mitchell Energy in The Woodlands, TX. She was a member of Summer Grove Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for many years at Ingleside and Western Hills Baptist Churches. This vibrant, joyful lady enjoyed singing in the JOY Choir, playing her piano, and being with her friends and family.
Preceded in death by Paul Chandler, her husband of 62 years, and her parents, Willie R. and Willie Mae Sanford. Left to cherish her memory are her sons Stephen(Brenda) Chandler and Randy(Lois) Chandler. In addition, Mamaw left behind her grandchildren Kirsten Palmer, Lindsay Burford, Chelsea Vanderhoeven, Zach and Chase Chandler; and eight great-grandchildren Alaina, Will, and Victoria Palmer; Rhett and Judd Burford; Claire, Bubba, and Paul Vanderhoeven, all of whom she dearly loved. She is survived by three siblings: Lois Willett, Frances Attaway-Jenisch, and Billy Sanford. She also leaves behind her very dear "friend" Andy Bridges.

In lieu of flowers, Betty requested that donations be given to Shriners' Hospital in Shreveport and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Honoring her as pallbearers are Zach and Chase Chandler, Tim Palmer, Richard Burford, Eddie Vanderhoeven, and Danny McGowan.
