Services to celebrate the life of Betty Ricks Hall will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Mansfield, LA. Officiating will be Reverend Thumper Miller assisted by Dr. Bill Crosby and Brother Joe Waggener. Special music will be provided by Helen Calhoun, Carlyn Waggener and Brother Gary Gregg. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Mansfield.
Betty passed away February 2, 2015 in Shreveport, LA following a lengthy illness. Visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Mansfield, LA on Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Betty was born on March 4, 1922 in Amarillo, TX, later moved to Shreveport and was a longtime resident of Mansfield after meeting the love of her life, G. B. Hall, Jr. She was a devoted mother and homemaker, friend and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She served her church in many capacities, teaching Sunday school, as Secretary of the Sunday school and on the Counting Committee.
She was preceded in death by her husband G. B. Hall, Jr, her parents George Oakley Ricks and Edna Margaret Ong Ricks.
She is survived by her two children, daughter Betty Anne Hall Hunter and husband Max of Dallas, TX and son G. B. "Sonny" Hall III and wife Ginger of Shreveport, LA.
"Mama Betty" will be greatly missed by her five grandchildren, Anne Hall Vaughn of Dallas, TX, Louise Downey and husband Mark of Crested Butte, CO, Sydney Braud and husband Shaun of Baton Rouge, LA, Bridges Hall and wife Abby of Shreveport, LA, Calli Thompson and husband Dhu of Shreveport, LA and her twelve great grandchildren.
Betty is also survived by a brother William G. Ricks and wife Jane of Broken Arrow, OK as well as many nieces, nephews, and numerous close friends.
Special thanks to Marsha Adkison for her devoted friendship and the Monday afternoon bridge club, Hope Calhoun, Toni Chaffin, and Jeanne Christian (She will have the table waiting for you!).
A very special thanks to mother's caregivers, LaSharra Johnson, Kathy Thomas, and Mary (Liza) Young. All of you are truly special "angels" and she loved each of you.
Serving as pallbearers are Bridges Hall, Shaun Braud, Dhu Thompson, Mark Downey, John Garmany, and Herman Lawson.
Honorary pallbearers are Rhonny Valentine, Dr. Leigh Dillard, L.C. "Gus" Hall, Raymond Powell, and James Hamilton Dixon.
The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care provided by the doctors, staff, and employees the last several weeks by DeSoto Regional Medical Center, Willis-Knighton North and Life Care.
