Affectionately known to her family as "Mam-ma Jo Darling", Mrs. Jo was a life-long member of Summer Grove Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school since she was fifteen years old and enthusiastically sang in the choir every week. Her Esther Sunday School class loved her greatly and along with many others, sought her counsel, hugs and wisdom on a regular basis.
Mrs. Jo was perhaps known best for three things-her fierce love and heart of service toward her husband, her faithful prayer life, and her desire to share the Lord with everyone who crossed her path. Anyone who knew Mrs. Jo knew they could come to her for a word of encouragement, prayer, or wise counsel. She didn't always have the answer, but she knew the One who did. Everything she did pointed back to the Lord.
Mrs. Jo enjoyed reading, gardening, working puzzles, watching John Wayne movies, spending time with her beloved family and being hospitable toward anyone who needed a warm meal or a listening ear. A gentle warrior, Mrs. Jo supported her family through many trials, even as she overcame her own. Her goals were to serve the Lord, serve others, and lead her family to Christ. It was a job well done. Her legacy will forever live on through her faithful testimony.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
The family would like to extend special thanks to University Health, especially Dr. Chris Trosclair, Rusty, Haleigh and Michelle in the ICU Ward. Also thank you to Todd and Amber in the Comfort Care area, and to AIME Hospice Care for their kindness and flawless transition. Their attention and care made an impossibly hard time a little less difficult.
