Funeral services celebrating the life of Betty Merritt Smith will be held Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Sibley United Methodist Church in Sibley Louisiana with Rev. Bryan McCoy officiating. Interment will follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sibley under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana. The family will receive friends Saturday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Betty was born February 28, 1931, in Sibley, Louisiana and entered into rest November 21, 2022, in Sibley, Louisiana. She was a member of Sibley United Methodist Church and was past owner of The Flower House.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Oscar Earl James and Bryant Earl Smith, Jr; sons, David Lynn James and Mark Earl Smith; grandson, James Colby Smith; one sister and two brothers.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicky Stewart and husband David of Bossier City, Linda Dunlap and husband Gary of Bartlett, TN, and Michelle Walker and husband Scott of Glen Allen, VA; grandchildren, Casey Bloxom and husband T.C., Corey MacIsaac and wife Mallory, Cody James, Stuart Walker, Emma Walker, Markus Smith, Riley Smith, Megan Smith, Kelly Frasure and husband Aaron, Jamie Howell and husband Richard, John Dunlap and wife Trish, and Jordan Rogers and husband Vince; a number of great great-grandchildren; long-time friend, Peggy Modisette and family friends, Johnnye Faye Moore and Inga Nickerson.
Honoring Betty as pallbearers will be her grandsons.
