HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Betty Kathryn Moreland, 84, at the First United Methodist Church in Homer on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. R.B. Moore, officiating. Interment followed at the Homer Arlington cemetery. The family received friends at the church on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m.
Miss Moreland was born January 14, 1933 in Homer, Louisiana to Byrl Jones Moreland and Elvie Lee Byas Moreland. She entered into rest Saturday, March 4th at Claiborne Memorial Medical Center following a brief illness. Miss Moreland was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and a Legal Secretary in Shreveport, Louisiana for more than 52 years.
Miss Betty was known for her strong faith in God and Jesus Christ, her happy outlook on life, her veracity for reading and her love of knitting and crafts. She cherished her pets including a pair of dachshunds and many cats.
Miss Moreland was preceded in death by her parents; also by her brother Dr. Byrl J. Moreland Jr. and his wife Martha.
She is survived by her nephew Richard J. Moreland and his wife Linda of Galiano, Louisiana, her nephew Dr. Robert B. Moreland and his wife Rebecca of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin and her great nephew Daniel N. Moreland of St. Louis, Missouri.
