Funeral services honoring the life of Betty Doyle Pilkinton, 94, will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Reverend Matt Rawle of Asbury United Methodist Church, where Betty was a member, will officiate. Burial will follow at Pilkinton Cemetery in Benton, Louisiana.

She was born August 25, 1929 in Haynes, Arkansas to Clyde Dean Doyle and Gladys Plummer Doyle. Betty passed away peacefully Saturday, February 17, 2024 after a brief illness.

When she was a young child, the family moved to Newellton, Louisiana, where she grew up with her five brothers and two sisters on Winter Quarters Plantation.

On March 5, 1954, she married Donald Ray Pilkinton. Together they raised three daughters and one son. Betty carried a big stick as she was quite the disciplinarian. Don often told his unruly children “Just wait until your Mama gets home”!

After her children were grown, Betty worked at Commercial National Bank until retirement. She enjoyed traveling, antique shopping, and walking her dogs. Betty logged many miles walking at Pierre Bossier Mall as a “Mall Walker”. She also enjoyed playing cards and chicken foot with her family. Most of all, Betty was a Christian woman and a loving mother who cared deeply about her children.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Don Pilkinton; brothers, Dean Doyle, James Doyle, Bobby Doyle, Louie Doyle and Ronnie Doyle; sister, Edna Gunter; son-in-law, Mike Norris and grandson, Kenneth Anderson. She is survived by her sister, Peggy Waddill; sisters-in-law, Jimmie Ruth Doyle and Carolyn Doyle; children, Pam Anderson and husband, Ken, Pat Norris Simmons, and husband, Tommy, Kim Harold and Tommy Pilkinton and wife, Sharon, who was more like a daughter to her; grandchildren, Jeremy Anderson and wife, Kelly, Emily Darr, Elizabeth Anderson, Callie Ruffus and husband, Doug, Casey Martin, and husband, Brady, Christian Harold and wife, Anna, Penny Coghlan, and husband, Chris, Paige Pilkinton and Thomas Pilkinton; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honoring Betty as pallbearers will be Thomas Pilkinton, Jeremy Anderson, Michael Martin, Chance Martin, Jeff Hollenshead and Dewey Jackson.

Many thanks to all the Blake of Bossier City staff for the love and kindness shown and the exceptional care provided to our mother for the last five and a half years. We will forever be grateful. Thanks to Bristol Hospice for the care and compassion given to our mother during her final days.
