Bobbie Ruth Shaw, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 23, 2021. Bobbie was born in Joaquin, Texas on April 1, 1933. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin University with a degree in music education and went on to teach school for thirty years. During that time, she also obtained a master's degree plus 30 from Centenary College of Louisiana. Her passions included painting ceramics, traveling with her friends (especially in her motor home), and spending time with her grandchildren. She belonged to First Baptist Church of Shreveport and loved her church family and Sunday school class dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ruth Hickman; her husband, John Shaw; and three sisters, Verna Picard, Edith Henderson and Margaret Nash. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Connie Mead and husband, Doug; two granddaughters, Stephanie Treme and husband, Joseph, and Mary Dodson and husband, Richard; and three great-grandchildren, Tate, Taylor and Sarah. Visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, Louisiana at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 26, 2021. A funeral service honoring Bobbie's life will be held in the Frost Chapel at First Baptist Church of Shreveport, 543 Ockley Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana, Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Ronney Joe Webb of First Baptist Church will officiate the service. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Old Home Cemetery in Tenaha, Texas. The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at The Carpenter House in Lafayette, Louisiana for their care and support.
